Silverfish are members of insects that moult as adults and have appendages in their abdomen. The adult when mature is around 12mm in length and generally grey or silver in colour.
Each female silverfish lays approximately 100 eggs in her lifetime in a variety of locations. The eggs are oval in shape approximately 1mm in length changing during their development from smooth white in appearance to brownish.
Cosmopolitan
Silverfish are nocturnal in habit and tend to hide during the day, therefore going unnoticed for considerable periods. They are a nuisance pest which can build up in numbers in areas of high humidity.
